Spring Home School Registration Cancelled
We regret to announce that registration for the Spring Home School Classes at SERC is cancelled. Karen McDonald, SERC’s longtime Coordinator for Outreach and Public Programs, has accepted a position elsewhere in the Smithsonian, and we will not be able to provide the high quality programs that SERC is known for, and that you have come to expect, until such time that we can find someone to shoulder those responsibilities. Our other public programs and campus access will continue as scheduled. The Biomimicry Science Fair for February is still going on as planned.
We hope you’ll continue to support SERC and its research and education programs and we look forward to welcoming you back to the SERC campus. In the meantime, we hope you will join us in wishing Karen success and happiness in her future endeavors.
We’ll announce future classes on this blog.
What a loss for the homeschool community. I do wish Karen the best. She will be missed. I can’t tell you how much our family has loved the homeschool classes. We are always telling new families about the program. Best of luck Karen with the new job.
Thanks Corrie, I’ll miss you all. It’s been my privilege to share time with you all.
Wishing Karen the best of luck! The homeschooling community will certainly miss her and her way of making science fun and relevant to all ages.
Thanks Heather, I’ll miss you all.
Tell Karen thank you and congrats on her new position. The homeschool community grateful for her dedication!
Blessings, Mrs. Rogers
So sorry to learn Karen is leaving. My grandson was so looking forward to the biology lab class. My daughter doesn’t know how to tell him. Best wishes to Karen in her new position.
Karen, Congratulations on your new position. We are sure this will be an exciting move for you. We will really miss you! Can’t imagine anyone will ever fill your shoes completely. Thank you for all the hard work you put in for our homeschooling community. We are very sad to see you go. Blessings to you in your future endeavors!
As someone who has greatly enjoyed the puddle stoppers AND was extremely looking forward to the home schooling program for my daughter Leanna, I am deeply saddened by this news. However, I understand and wish Karen only the best in her new job and bright future. I can only hope and pray that someone just as qualified, devoted and caring can one day fill her shoes, but in my opinion those are very big shoes to fill! 😉 Much love and thanks, Verity and Leanna
